Last updated: December 2025

PlaceSense (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a consultancy led by Andrew Alsbury. We take your privacy seriously and this page explains, in simple terms, what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

If you have any questions, you can contact Andrew at: andrew@placesense.co.uk

1. The information we collect

We collect information in three ways:

a) When you contact us

If you use the contact form or email us directly, we collect the information you choose to share, such as:

  • your name

  • your email address

  • your message

b) If you sign up to the newsletter

We collect your name and email address so we can send updates or insights.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in any email.

c) Through website analytics

Like most websites, we collect basic, anonymous information such as:

  • which pages you visit

  • how long you spend on the site

  • the device or browser you use

This helps us understand how the website is being used so we can improve it.

Analytics may be provided by Squarespace and (if enabled) Google Analytics.
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • reply to enquiries

  • send newsletters (if you’ve opted in)

  • understand website use

  • run and improve our business

We never sell your data or pass it to third parties for marketing.

3. Legal reasons we use your data

Under UK GDPR we rely on:

  • Consent — when you sign up to the newsletter

  • Legitimate interests — when responding to enquiries or analysing website use

  • Contract — when discussing or delivering work

4. How we store your data

Your data is stored securely in systems we use to run the business, including:

  • Squarespace (website and forms)

  • Microsoft 365 (email and file storage)

  • Email marketing tools (currently via SquareSpace)

These services meet UK GDPR requirements and use secure data centres.

We only keep information for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry or manage our relationship with you.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small files that help the site function and help us understand how people use it.

We use:

  • Essential cookies — required for security and basic functionality

  • Analytics cookies — to understand how visitors use the site

We do not use advertising cookies.

You can control cookies in your browser settings, and you can decline optional cookies through the cookie banner.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the data we hold

  • correct or delete your data

  • stop using your data for certain purposes

  • unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time

Just email andrew@placesense.co.uk
